You Go Hillary!

I have to give a quick shout out to my favorite presidential contender of the past few weeks. That is, of course, Hillary Rodham Clinton! She is my favorite because she is out there doing the best she can to improve the chances of a Republican Presidential victory. Over the past couple of years, none of the pundits gave the Republicans a snowball’s chance in Hell of winning back the White House. Now we have poll results, like the following:

Rasmussen Poll

I believe this link updates daily, but at least as of today, McCain is leading Obama nationally 47% to 42% and leading Clinton (Hillary, that is) 49% to 40%. What does this mean? It means that because of Hillary’s pride, inability to admit defeat and selfish desire to become the Democratic nominee, at any cost, she turned what was once a “guaranteed” victory for the Dems into a horse race.

Additionally, she is out there continuing to raise money, making the Democratic supporters poorer, while they waste their money on a defeated candidate. Moreover, this money is going to point out the flaws of the eventual Democratic nominee, which is less time and money that the Republicans have to spend on the issue. It is really great to see!

I have to hand it to my girl, she is really doing the RIGHT thing by fighting this battle to the bitter end. Don’t let them make you quit, stand tall, keep telling yourself that you are the right candidate, don’t listen to anyone except for that voice in your head telling you that because you married a past President, that gives you the RIGHT experience to be a Senator and obviously a President.

Hillary, don’t give up!

All Men Are NOT Created Equal

Thomas Jefferson is often partially quoted from his famous phrase from the Declaration of Independence. People often quote this phrase and mention only “All men are created equal”. First, the sentence begins with “We hold these truths to be self-evident”. Generation Y would probably abbreviate that to be only “Obviously”, but the Olde English version is much more powerful. Anyway, after “created equal” is the most important part to this phrase, “that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the PURSUIT of Happiness”.

I bolded and capitalized the key word in that phrase that I feel separates liberals from conservatives. Conservatives believe that government can provide an environment to maximize your ability to PURSUE happiness. Liberals want the government to be responsible for PROVIDING your happiness. The difference is EFFORT. This is why it is difficult to change hearts and minds with Conservative ideals (although they ARE what is best for the country). Conservativism depends on people to strive and achieve. This is what has built our country to become this great nation. Liberalism sees a problem and has a government program to fix it. Welfare, National Health Care, etc. Basically, if you are not HAPPY, a Liberal can create a program to PROVIDE HAPPINESS, at the expense of the tax payers.

Here is the moral of the story. All men are NOT created equal, but we each have certain God-given talents and abilities. It is our right, no our RESPONSIBILITY and DUTY to figure out what those are and use them to pursue happiness in this great nation. If you depend on the government or others in general to provide you with happiness, your life will be miserable. If you work hard and are happy, you won’t need government programs, you will have created your own happiness.

Annoy a Liberal

Here is a hilarious comic by Darby Conley called Get Fuzzy. The cat and dog are often found arguing about politics. Enjoy!

I need to get over my writer’s block and my intimidation over my first post.  So here is my first post.

Welcome

I’m looking forward to getting out some of my thoughts that run through my head, usually on the way to or from work. Some may be a bit crude or stereotypical, but in general I am a person who can respect differing opinions, so long as they are well-founded and well thought out.
